Discover new technologies and processes at Printwear & Promotion LIVE!

| 10/12/2021

Anyone looking to either get started in garment decoration or enhance their existing set-up should visit Printwear & Promotion LIVE! in February. The exhibition is regarded by many as the annual launchpad for new equipment and in 2022 there will be plenty to see demoed live.

Processes in garment decoration are evolving all the time and direct to film printing is the latest method in this evolution.

The process uses a specific kind of water-based ink to print a film transfer, which is then transferred directly onto garments and other substrates. The process is seen as an alternative to direct to garment printing, which first entered the scene 15 years ago.

At the last P&P LIVE! in 2020, direct to film printing wasn’t even on the horizon. But now in 2022 numerous exhibitors will be showcasing the very latest direct to film printers and processes.

Visit Printwear & Promotion LIVE! and see the latest from…

TheMagicTouch and Resolute DTG

Both TheMagicTouch (stand J40) and Resolute DTG (stand B20) will be showcasing the R-Jet PRO DTF – a standalone wide format printer. The transfers produce vibrant images with no requirement for pre-treatment. The printer is a joint venture between the two companies, with both stocking and supplying the associated films and inks required.

TheMagicTouch will also have on stand the new Mutoh/STS VJ-628D printer. The 630mm wide compact desktop direct to film printer, manufactured by Mutoh in Japan, is based on Mutoh’s proven Valuejet 628 8-channel printer chassis and Epson industrial print head.

R A Smart

Another stand to visit to see DTF printing in action is R A Smart (stand A1). The machinery supplier will be showcasing a full DTF solution on stand. R A Smart has partnered with a pioneering producer of the entire DTF package, with patented ink and application technology developed over the past four years.

YES Group

YES Group (stand G10) will be introducing the new DTG Q Series, a hybrid DTG and DTF printer. The DTG Q Series prints 100% inline with white and colour inks in just one pass and is designed to produce high volume, low cost printed garments. It is built with an automatic vacuum platen for speed loading and patented white ink flush system. A first for DTG Digital, this printer also prints onto film, making the DTG Q Series a true hybrid, converting to DTF without changing inks or platens producing high quality transfers instantly.

J&B Sewing Machine Co

The team at J&B Sewing Machine Co (stand A32) will be demonstrating how users of the Epson SureColor SC-F2100 and SureColor SC-F2000 can transform these printers into direct to film printers. Using Ecofreen PET films and Ecofreen hot melt adhesive powder, users can print onto the film and transfer onto any kind of fabric, including cotton, polyester, nylon and leather.

Also showcasing the benefits of DTG printer adaption for DTF printing will be Amaya Sales UK (stand F40) using the Polyprint Texjet and MHM Direct GB (stand G60) using the Brother GTX series.

There are sure to be many more stands showcasing this new technology, so keep an eye out for further announcements in the run up to the exhibition in February.
